Back in the day, I turbo'ed a 1600 and ran a side pipe - kind of. I ran
the pipe just inside the rocker panel and outside the frame. It dumped
before the rear wheel and ran a 20 inch glass pack. With the turbo, it
was not loud - actually sounded like a tractor. I did not run it on the
outside of the body as I had a friend with a Vette with side pipes and
complained about burns on his leg. Also with a 4 cylinder, a side pipe on
one side would be not be balanced.
