Metric is sooooooooo easy. In 1989, there was still one speed limit sign in
kilometers going over the Likelike Hwy on O'hau, HI. Wonder if it's still
there. Anyway....

Other than Roman numerals, I have never seen "MM" stand for anything other
than millimeters. Had to Google it to learn that MM is a correct
abbreviation.

The US is the only industrialized country on the planet that doesn't use the
metric system (something we have in common with Burma and Liberia), although
most of us medical doctors use it regularly. It was hilarious when, as a
college senior working at 7-11 in Lawrence, Kansas in 1974 (and driving the
only Datsun roadster in town), we switched the gas pumps to liters,
confusing the ignorant masses beyond belief. Still, most of us would use
the metric '$10K' to represent ten thousand dollars, reserving Roman
numerals only for 'millions' and Mafia talk. Note, however, that while Bob's
MM is meant to represent one thousand thousand, in Roman numeral speak it's
actually only two thousand, so $10MM is really only twenty thousand
dollars.....
