Bill,
My reaction was exactly the same as yours. Then I realized "Wait, the
temp
sensors are part of the engine harness..." ;-)
When I put a '69
2000 engine into my '66 1600 years ago, all I had to change
electrically in
the engine bay was the wire to the temp sensor, and I had to
make a jumper
harness to connect the 2000 alternator (on the lower left of the
motor) with
the alternator connection for the 1600. But, I subsequently bought
the
factory parts and moved the alternator to the upper right as on '67-1/2
2000s.

1600 type 2 dash harness to go in
a 69 type 2 2000?
Hi Craig, I believe
you'll find the temp sensor wire on the 1600 and 2000 are
located in
different locations in the harness, the 1600 comes out of the engine
harness
near the carbs and the 2000 it comes out of the fire wall on the
passenger
side..there maybe more issues but that is one that I have came across
doing
the same ting your planning to do... Bill
