I don't think there's any way that could get into the hydraulic fluid in the
clutch line. Or am I misunderstanding the question?

If it's that dirty - perhaps it is the front seal from the transmission ??

have the parts necessary to replace the entire clutch system, (except the
master) but hope to not have to do the whole job.
