it will break, eventually, if you use only 2 mounting places. at least, that
is
my experience with trying to mount a GM one wire that way.

Subject: [Roadsters] alternators
I needed a new alternator and checked my 311 parts interchange and ordered
the one for the Ford Courier. it arrived several hours later and the pivot
bolt mounting bracket is different. The original one has an extended bolt
boss that mounts to a boss on the block and an arm off the front of the
engine. The Ford alt' is also a Mitsibishi and all else is the same except
that the two pivot ears don't match up to the boss on the block. Is it OK to
cut off the rear boss from the new alternator and mount it just by the front
pivot bracket ear and the adjustment ear. Doesn't seem too solid. Perhaps I
should just send the old alt' in for rebuild?
