Hi there. my name is Jim and this '70 is my second 311, bought in the same
town (Lawton, OK) as my first in '67. "Barterdude" did the work and I'm just
in the process of up dating some of the items still needing attention. So far
I've installed the roll bar, new top, new windshield glass, console, and
rebuilt the water pump etc. etc. Now I need to renew the ball joints (upper
and lower) but can't seem to find a source for an idler box, (new or used) so
that I can have the car off the road for the minimum amount of time. Rare
Parts Inc. in Stockton, CA will re manufacture the used uppers and sell me new
lowers at a reasonable price, but I'm looking for an idler box and don't
really want to send in the one on the car at present.
I live in Sarasota, FL and there are only a very few 311's in the state that I
know of. There's a real beauty fully restored up in Orlando, and I saw a very
low mileage "survivor" in Hollywood FL. but mine is a real attention grabber
here on the "Mangrove Coast". So, SRL311-12536 always attracts a crowd at
local "Cruise Nights".
