IMHO,
I've read similar articles including the articles from Consumer Reports,
from which I subscribe, ......and I concur with CR,...
IMHO...,and I have to point out what you said about ..."And they rarely hit
highway speeds"....precisely the point,...
According to CR and other sources of their popular notion: it's the "CITY
miles, STOP and GO , High Heat Idling, ...blah,...blah... that is considered
at the very least, and well short of "racing conditions", ..a reliable
standard of "real world" wear and tear on inspected engine wear surfaces.
I could champion that belief,... or degrade it, but I'm not an SAE engineer,
just another lowly, uninformed, Roadster owner.
I wish I had the confidence and credentials to categorically dismiss what
I'm not sure about,... or at least provide a supportive bibliographic source
of my opinion,...
Oh hey, just kiddin'! ! of course....
