I use Jig head paint for gunsights, (fluorescent pink or orange), made for
coloring leadhead fish hooks. It's a thick drying enamel that would fill
the letters very well. You may be able to apply with a paperclip or a very
thin brush, it's very similar to nail olish and smells horrible. Available
in most tackle shops. Wipes off metal while wet, but I would try it on
scrap plastic first.

Maybe related, maybe not, but I colored in the engravings on my wife's gun
for
her (she wanted a pink gun, pink engravings would have to do). Anyway, the
first attempt was to melt a crayon and rub it into the engravings, then rub
the excess with tissue or paper towel. Worked well, but with the heat of
the
gun, it would eventually melt out. What is in there now is a little more
appropriate for a chic gun, fingernail polish. Paint it in, scrape the
excess
off with stiff paper, let dry and then wipe off the excess with Hoppes gun
cleaner. I tried acetone but it was too strong and ended pulling most of
the
polish out. By the way, if you saw my wife, you'd never expect her to be
someone that is packing. 5'2" and 100lbs in a dress suit.
