I don't have a soft top, ....yet, but I often use a hard top. I lay down
a heavy coat of a high silicon car wax across the back where the top rests.
After 13 years, it showing a little wear, but not much.
With the soft top, you can coat the bar with some of that vinyl dip made
for tool handles to keep the edges from scratching. The least you can do is
round off the edges on the bar, except maybe a short span where it engages
the clamps on the deck.

Subject: [Roadsters] question regarding protecting paint from soft top
Hi,
Has anyone found a way to protect the paint from scratching where the
soft top attaches via the bar to the rear two hooks and also around all the
snaps?
Thanks,
David
