Steve,
Go for it, but it's probably an L-16. That's the only older 1600 OHC I
can remember. You can also look for a flat pad located on the top edge
of the block roughly below the #3 plug. If it's a L-16, you should see
L-16-xxxxxxx stamped on the pad.
