I'm pretty sure this was discussed on 311s.org including pics. Yup, several
times. 30 seconds searching found a number of hits. Start with these two

Subject: [Roadsters] U20, Upper Chain Tensioner, Spacers
Mates,
I'm not happy with how much slop my upper chain tensioner has at low idle.
I know that some people put spacers on the shaft of the tensioner so to take
up some of this slop. Two questions:
1) What do people do about low idle tensioner slop?
2) Does anyone know what the diameter of that shaft is?
3) What materials work well as spacers (oil/heat resistant) and soft enough
that they won't damage the tensioner?
