Tim,

I am probably wrong, but I've seen similar problems caused by lower than needed 
fuel pressure from a worn out pump, other inline filters needing cleaning, 
loose old hoses allowing pressure to escape, or unvented fuel tanks building 
pressure.

Let us all know what you find, so we can check it out ourselves.
