I wonder if they thought about running a compression check? ANY shop
worth a sign above the door should at least have a compression gauge.
I'd expect that test ands an number of others to be included in any
pre-sale inspection.
There are other tests, too, but if the head gasket's blown you'll have
a low cylinder or two if it's blown between adjacent cylinders.
