This may be the best 1600 engine out there IMHO. If still original you should
have a cast iron head (3 bolts in the thermostat tower), and it is pretty
bullet-proof as far as warping due to heat etc. The downside is that it is a 3
main bearing engine rather that 5 (engine # 40,000 was the change-over I
think). The 5-main bearing engine can be stroked with a 2000 crank & pistons,
but not the 3. The 5 does apparently have an oil delivery issue to one of the
bearings though, so I'd say you have the best of both worlds. Enjoy the ride!
