You're close - almost upholstery related. Top-related actually. Those mount
to the inside of the body just behind the doors. There are cables that run
from the front bow on the top, back around the window opening, and a flat
piece on the end slips into the clamp-like area of those parts to tension
the top around the window glass. Hard to visualize from a description, but
as soon as you see it on the car, you'll understand.

also - any trick to aligning the trunk catch and the lock? i'm putting
those together tomorrow after i go to the hardware store and buy new bolts
because, oh yeah, i haven't a clue where the originals went . . .
