While in Southern Japan in the early 70s I knew a fellow who lived off
base that wore a full helmet while driving his 4 door Toyota off base.
Yes, the locals drove wildly, but I thought he was overacting a bit!
Helmet laws keep nature from cleaning out the shallow end of the gene
pool. (Don't remember where I heard that!)
