For All,
I just took a door and fender from a 99 Escort to my local scrap yard. They
are paying $4.50 per hundred pounds for generic scrap steel. (Located in
Chesapeake Virginia, Military Highway and the Elizabeth River is where this
place is)....
So, for Craig's offer, if you carefully removed any good ball joints,
steering boxes, and other good bits from a junk roadster, and ended up with
say 1,000 pounds left out of the original #2000, if you picked one up with
no drivetrain, you would still put $45 in your pocket.
Sounds like a workable deal for anyone reasonably close to Craig and a good
scrap yard. If you could stack about 2 or 3 hulks on a big trailer so as to
minimize fuel cost it would be even better.
Certainly not a way to get rich, but at least you would put a few dollars in
your pocket and hellp Craig. Remember to drain out all fluids and dispose
of the tires somewhere else.
Just my two cents!
Jim
