Hi,
? I had another non-rebuilt?2liter motor dropped into my '68 2000.? I ended up
using my original head which has been rebuilt (shaved and cam towers shimmed
with B cam).? I went to pick up the car today?from the shop which installed the
motor and noticed when I started the car the dreaded death rattle.? I had the
shop pull?the valve cover and sure enough the timing chaining is eating into
the timing chain hanger when I start the car.? After startup the rattle goes
away, I suppose it gets enough oil pressure after starting to keep the chain
off the hanger.?

Is there any quick fixes to keep more tension on the chain when the motor is
not running?? I may have been hallucinating but I thought I had seen a tie wrap
on the tensioner to keep the tensioner out when the motor is not running.? This
was on my rebuilt head with the original motor.? There isn't a tie wrap on
there now.? I am looking for the easiest, cheapest fix to get by for a year or
so.? I already spent too much money buying the used motor and having the motor
installed.

Thanks,
David
