The CA and SR are only similar in the fact that they are twin-cam engines.
The rest of the design is totally different.
The CA is quite a bit smaller dimensionally, has a much different cylinder
head design, and if there is an engine that it is similar to, it would be
the first generation of the RB20 series engine.
The CA-series engine is also an iron block, aluminum head arrangement, where
the SR-series engines are all aluminum.
There is only once CA18DE powered roadster in the USA that I know of. It was
done by a guy out of Seattle and was a really nice clean swap.
The CA-series engines are orphans here in the USA. Many engine importers
ignore this engine, so they are harder to find. Most people find that it
does not make enough power to justify the work to do the swap and opt for
the much more common KA or SR instead.
In Australia, it is a different story as there are many more engine
importers bringing in used engines/half-cuts out of Japan. That being said,
remember that the newest RWD CA18DE(T) is 17-years old as they went out of
production in 1990.

I think that the CA and the SR are very similar motors.
