My first guess would be running rich at idle. Usually due to worn needles
and nozzles.
Try this. Remove the air cleaner. With it idling either push up on the
piston pin or reach in the carb and lift the piston just a little. If raising
the
piston a little speeds up the engine you are too rich. I normally set the
mixture at 2000 rpm. You can either use a service tach and adjust the mixture
knobs for maximum rpm or lift and push down the slides to lean and richen the
mixture and adjust from there. The idle will normally take care of it's self
pretty well. If the idle is rich you can lean it with the mixture knobs but
then your top end will be lean. If you turn the mixture knobs all the way in
and
you are still too rich at idle take a good look at the needles and nozzles.
There are a couple of other tricks but let us know what you find with the
idle mixture.

good morning everybody-
My car has 2000 engine and regular Hitachi carbs, in traffic jam conditions:
when my car idles for more than a few minutes it starts to bog down and run
like crap.
Any ideas?
