Pete,
Got both your replies......
Thanks for posting the Micra link. We only got the first gen Micra up here
in Canada. They were bare bones econoboxes that made the roadster almost
luxurious.
Sorry I can't remember the genius on this list that brought these fuseboxes
up in the first place.....
It'll be there a couple times if you do a search.
Harness colours won't match the Roadtser, Tho I wasn't trying to match them.
I used it solely for the EFI components. The MS stands for Megasquirt.
Not quite installed yet. Hopefully in a couple of days. I'll shoot you a
picture as soon as it's in.
"considering that new wire is $20+ per roll...."
Ya, The wrecking yard here charges you for the whole harness with the
fusebox ($35), so I considered just cutting the fusebox from the Micra, and
getting the rest of the harness out of the biggest, most option laden
vehicle in the lot (Caddy, Lincoln, Caprice?). It is a bit of a pain both
getting the harness out, and stripping it down, but, you know you are
getting good automotive grade wire, easily identifiable with lots of colours
and sizes, and more than enough of it. If you have the time/patience.
Cheers

Hey, Daryl,
FYI for anyone else wondering what a Nissan Micra (never imported into the
USA) is:
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Micra>
This is a great idea that I-who-reads-this-list-religously never heard of.
The only problem I see is losing that vintage original open fuse box. OTOH,
considering that new wire is $20+ per roll....
Did your Micra harness colors match the Roadster harness colors?
Do you have a pic or three showing it installed?
Thanks.

Subject: Wiring - 80's Nissan fuse box
A while back someone mentioned using the 80's Nissan fuse boxes for a rewire
project. They are made to bolt to a flat surface.
I have seen them in 10 (Micra), 15 (pickup), and 20 (Sentra) circuit
configurations with the relays (3 or 4) clipped right to them. Fairly
compact.
The terminals are relatively easy to pull out and re-arrange with the
correct size wiring. Pick up a 2nd box to make sure you get enough of the
larger wires with the terminal ends on them.
I used a Micra 10 cct box with 3 realys to add the MS to my car. The box
with relays measures 15 cm by 8 cm by 8 cm tall. (about 6" x 3" x 3" ). The
Sentra 20 cct box is about an inch wider.
Cost from the wreckers with the complete Sentra harness, 5 relays etc.
$35.00
So, thanks for the pointer, this is working out very well for my project.
