I have used the American Rustoleum, mixed with 10 to 15 % mineral spirits in an
engine compartment. Flows very nicely and dries to a hard finish. This was
done at the automotive campus at SF City College, and 2 of the instructors
there also swear by using Rustoleum for engine compartments, and say that the
high heat version sticks and stays better than anything else they've tried,
even on exhaust manifolds and headers. It's rated to 1200 degrees, and the
motorcycle teacher says it's the only thing that doesn't burn off motorcycle
exhaust headers.
