windshield wipers

hi, all.  i see lots of roadster reconstruction going on out there, and 
that's a good thing!!!

my question:  i've stripped the body pretty well, but am having trouble 
getting the windshield wiper bases (the part which the wipers actually 
attach to) off the car.  when i turn them, the whole assembly turns.  i'm 
not sure i want to use the old channel locks on the base and screw them up.

suggestions?????
