OT - avoiding DC

  Nothing to do with direct current, but Washington DC.  I need to make a
run from Ohio to Virginia Beach this week.  Normally I cut across 70 to 270,
around DC on 495 and then take 95 south.  But I really hate the traffic
around DC.  I had heard that there was a long cut around the west side, I
thought I remembered Route 17 was part of it.  But looking at the old maps I
have hear, nothing makes sense.

  Anybody out there know of the best way around DC?
