Did it turn freely when the engine was freshly rebuilt? FWIW, I would take the engine out of the car, remove the oil pan and check out what's wrong before trying to start it. No sense in breaking a ring or ruining the bearings. These engines cost way too much to repair and IMHO it would be very foolish to try to run the engine as is. BTW, the engine doesn't use babbit bearings, they are modern 'shell type' bearings. |
