My '68 has metal ends with metal mesh in middle. And I think the reason
that it is a flex line is so you can rotate that lower dizzy base, if for
some crazy reason you might want to.

The block-to-dizzy base oil line is:
solid metal on the 1600 (at least on '68)
metal ends with cloth-covered middle on the 2000 (at least on '69)
I'm not sure why they made the 2L a flexible line as there better
not be any relative motion between the block and the dizzy base...
