Since my 9 month wait for a broken windshield debacle from a few weeks
ago at another Nissan dealer, I have been in contact with my excellent
local Nissan parts manager who is pursuing Roadster windshield
availability with a parts procurement manager in the Nissan offices in
Chicago. The manager in Chicago is not aware that the windshields have
been discontinued (initial response). Nissan would rather we buy their
OEM glass than aftermarket.
I cannot wait another 9 months for a windshield and hope the next one
isn't broken. After expressing the real need for windshields, I hope to
have some real information in the next few days including actual
availability and estimated delivery times.
Aftermarket may be the our best option to "ensure" reliable availability
as many of you have already concluded.
