Hi gang! A couple years back there was a purple car at Shasta with a non-turbo
VG30 V6 installed... I took pictures but never got the owners name. Was
messing around with the '68 tonight that is slated for the turbo 6 and had a
few questions. Anybody know who that person was and if they have an email
address? Any info appreciated.
On another note, two things: Been chasing down an oil leak and discovered it
is coming from the tach cable where it attaches to the dizzy mount. I put an
o-ring in behind the flange on the cable and used teflon tape for the threads,
but it continues to leak somehow. I also sealed the cable housing. Is it
normal for there to be oil in this area, or do I have a bad seal inside the
dizzy mount? Anything I am missing here? Second: The other day I came across
a set of new NGK BPR7ES plugs I had bought (one step colder than the 6ES). I
noted that they have an extended nose. I have always run BR6ES plugs, which
are not extended. The NGK site calls for a BPR (extended nose) plug for the
Roadster. To make a long story short, I installed the extended nose plugs and
the car would knock at 3500 rpms under moderate to hard acceleration.
Switching back to the BR plugs stopped the knock. Soooo, if any of you out
there are running higher compression and/or are experiencing some knock, you
might try the BR6ES plugs instead. Don't know why it makes a difference, but
it does in my car.
