Just wanted to follow-up this earlier posting re: Optima batteries.
Since we also have a Honda CRV that uses the type 51R 500 CCA battery, I
thought I would try out an Optima yellow-top battery in the roadster,
while also generating a winter spare for the CRV.
I can honestly say that it has changed the roadster. The car now starts
flawlessly, whereas for the past ten years or so, with a series of stock
and various Interstate replacement batteries in the 650 CCA range (types
24 and 26), it really labored to start.
Can't comment yet on the durability, but I like (a lot) what I see so far.
FWIW, the battery was sourced from REMY, who eventually came through
with a battery after "losing the order" (but not my payment...) for more
than a week.
