i agree - we need vendors; they need (are there for) us.
and, most auto parts stores are like the local pep boys where they made me pay
up front for parts that never arrived. I did, btw, get a refund a few weeks
later.
BUT - the local O'Reilly's is a shining example. they special order numerous
parts for my MG, Datsun, or Triumph, and they get a kick out of learning about
and seeing the cars when i drive them by.

'.5'.
3. Vendors don't get that blank look when you ask for a Hitachi rebuild kit.
4. You don't have to explain to a vendor that Dunlop did make something
other than tires.
5. Vendors know that the 'evil L' is not Larry who works there on weekends.
6. Vendors know there is a roadster besides the 32 Ford.
7. Your car is probably older than most auto parts counter guys.
8. You never hear a vendor ask 'SPL-311? What's that?'.
9. Your roadster is definitely in a vendor's computer database.
10. You never hear a vendor say 'Datsun...Oh yeah. They made trucks, right?'
