This news brings nothing but smiles to my face Ed! I understand EXACTLY what
you mean, having gone through the same effort nearly 20 years ago with my own
'67. When you love a car there really is no greater feeling of satisfaction
than this. Just last night my friend Tom was over. His '70 is in my garage
and we are in the process of restoring and modifying her, and we were talking
about that feeling, and how great it will be when she is done and you fire it
up for the first time and take it for a drive... ya! As I looked at my
sleeping 2 liter, sitting patiently at the back of the garage waiting for the
sun to return to the Pacific Northwest, I said that I have never regretted one
day of owning that car. I will never sell her... she is part of who I am, and
a solid example of what I can accomplish. She is not perfect and never will
be, and that is just fine with me. So, from car #588 to car #515, welcome
back! May the sun always shine and the roads be twisty!

purred to life. After many hours of installing the
dash and the dash wiring and the engine wiring and
working on a relay system for the ignition switch, and
making a fusable link for the white wire to the
ammeter, and all the time it takes to put everything
back in the engine compartment, I realized that I
might be able to start the engine with a little more
work. So like an impatient high school kid, I rigged
up the battery wiring and ran a fuel line from the
fuel pump to a small can of gas. After just a few
cranks, it started! The engine runs smooth and
strong. I have to give credit to Keith the carb expert
who rebuilt the su carbs. I just bolted them up and
without even touching them the engine fired right up
and idled smooth as silk. I still have a long way to
go, but now I'm on the downhill side.
