Lecture follows,
The float bowl cover gasket is cork. It only needs to be snuged up, not
cranked on. Too tight and it squeezes out causing leaks and possible breakage
of the top.
Now that I have that off my chest, sorry, it's been one of those days.

float bowl cover and cracked it. So, I am in need of good used float
bowl hopefully with needle assembly for a late model 1600 SU. Does
anyone have one for sale?
