OT: MGB V-8, how to register in CA

Hey Eric,
That is a very nice conversion, but since it is a '77 I think you'd have
a hell of a time registering it in California. (was 74 and on, now 75
and on require all stock smog equipment and bi-annual dyno test).  I
know there are ways around it (like if there was a model offered with a
V-8), but the factory MGB V-8 was only offered in England, I think.  Any
one else know otherwise?
