Don't know what year you have, but at least on the later cars there
is one crucial ground connection that affects most of the electrical.
This is a heavy black wire that attaches to a screw that threads into
a captive nut on the frame (on the left side, flat horizontal surface,
in front of the carbs and behind the steering box, near the stamped
VIN, if that helps). The one wire loops thru the dash and provides
the ground path for all sorts of things.
