The side "chrome" is held on by fasteners that would prefer to break rather
than unscrew.Try wire brushing the ones you can reach to get some of the rust
off and liberally soak all of them with a good penetrating lubricant for a
week or so.Gently loosen nuts but some will still break.Side strips should
then come off with some additional gentle prying with a putty knife.Good
