I'm working on moding a 70 steering column including the turn signal switch
into a 66. The switch handle will still be left hand operation. I just have to
tap three holes on the shaft so I can turn the base 180 degrees out to fit the
firewall. The 70 ignition switch/lock is removed and I will be using the early
steering wheel with the ignition switch still on the dash.
Currently I am working on the switch cover cosmetic to accomodate this.
What I would like some thought on is the wiring. I am guessing as I don't have
the schematics here in front of me.
On the 70 switch I have 8 wires and the early has 5. I'm thinking that the 66
used a common wire for some of it's circuits (a common hot or ground) where the
70 used 2 wires for each circuit. Does that sound right? If it is correct,
which wires on the 70 switch get joined as 1 to work in the 5 wire 66 setup?
Thanks!
Jim
