Hi everybody,
I was reading about experiences getting cars home and wanted to share one
with everybody. First of all never, never modify an early model 4 blade medal
fan to fit on a late model "R" bolt pattern. Here we go..
A few years back I was commuting thru the south Salem, Oregon area down
I-5 thru the hills. We are talking Friday after work, 55 miles to get home so
I'm in the fast lane doing 75+ with the rpm right up there and then she BLOWS.
My fan came apart in three pieces. Took out both hoses, some wiring, and left
two nice size outward dents in the hood. So check those metal fans.. they will
fatigue if you mess with them.
Believe me I thought someone shot the radiator with a gun. Steaming like
crazy, the car made it off the side and I patched it up enough to make it the
30 mile I still had to go. Of course next week the head was shaved and put
back on the road for another 100,000 miles with an electric fan. Just wanted
to share my experience. Bill
