Hi Everyone,
It's been quite a day. Thank you all for the replies. The Battery was definetly
low and shot for that matter so I went and got a new battery as well as
replaced the battery cables and starter ground with all new stuff. The battery
seems to be working fine, but still not turning over the car. all I get is a
fast clickity, clickity clickity.
I put my multi-meter on it just to check it out and it's showing about 12.25
across the battery terminals and drops to about 5 when the ignition engages.
Are there maybe some other electrical issues that would keep the starter from
at least spinning up?
The new starter was a little different then the stock 1600 but there weren't
any markings I could see, so I transfered the wires as best I could. I have the
ground to the same post as the wire that comes out of the body of the starter.
The positive to the same post as where the wireing harness connects up and the
spade terminal to the spade terminal. Any chance I put it in backwards, upside
down or some other way that would cause me mental anguish and feel like a dork
until I got it fixed? It's a new ring gear also so it shouldn't have to much
trouble hooking up. Thanks again for your time on this sunday.
So close, but so far away.
