You can put the radiator somewhere else, like the trunk, though you'd
need some way to pull air through and some VERY long radiator hoses. I
imagine it'd be even more nose heavy - not so good for the twisties. Or
you could cut much of the firewall off and mount it all the way back,
maybe have a custom shifter that bent forward to be in a more normal
position. Or use an automatic so you don't have to shift much while
driving.
But there are lots of 4-cyl options that will give more HP than a stock
L28 and fit in neatly. How about the ever-popular SR20DE or KA24DE? Or
how about a stroked/bored intercooled SR20DET with nearly 2400cc's of
displacement and the turbo cranked up to 15psi or more? That might be
fun. :-)
