I've got both of them. The 1600 is robust and has no problem speeding
around. Just keep it tuned up. Off the line, it's not going to beat a 2000
(also tuned up). With my 1600 I've beat 2000's that weren't in good shape. I
wouldn't worry unless you plan on regularly going faster than 85mph. I
prefer the lighter clutch and 4-speed for city driving.
On my 2000 I went the other way, matching it with a 1600 rear-end. Feels
better off the line.
How fast do you want to go?
