Gary: Check to see if the throttle plates are closing tightly on both throats
of each carb. Use a small inspection mirror and good flashlight. If someone
worked on the carbs and tightened the nuts on the throttle shafts incorrectly
they could of easily bent the throttle shafts. They are actually quite
delicate. If seen this on carbs I've worked on. The resulting bent throttle
shaft
gives you two throats out of synch on an individual carb. This can produce the
symptoms you describe. One throat will close and the engine idles on the other.
Rough running at higher rpms due to out of synch cylinders.
