I have two broken trannys. I have identified the problem with both of them.
I will only rebuild one. The two trannies look the same but the internals are
a little different. They are both five speeds. I'm not quite sure of the
terminilogy. The shifter fork contacts a sliding part that actually selects
the gear. I will acll this part a gear selector. On one tranny the gear
selector slides on a center gear with syncros on either side. On the other
tranny the gear selector slides on three little pads that are 120 degrees
apart. What is the difference between these two trannies? Which one should I
rebuild?
The one with gears had a little piece break that holds the syncro to the
center gear. The other one only has a broken shifter fork.
Thanks,
Andy
