Hi List!
I have a set of SUs that have a small leak.
On the rear carb, there is a fitting that attaches to
the top of the rear float bowl. At the front end of
this fitting is the fuel inlet from the fuel pump via
the forward carb. The back end of the fitting has an
opening where an aluminum, apparently tapered, male
fitting presses into. This male fitting then has a
hose clamped to it, whose other end goes back to the
firewall where it connects to a hard line on it's way
back to the fuel tank.
The leak is between the opening on the fitting that
attaches to the top of the rear float bowl and the
tapered aluminum male fitting. The tapered fitting
will seem to tighten as it is pushed in hard, but
won't stay in.
What is the best way to fix this? Carefully applying
a small amount of fuel resistant perm-a-gasket to it?
Thanks to all in advance for all their help!
Scott Occhiuto.
