After struggling for what seems like forever with the overheating
problem with our '64 1600 powered Roadster, someone gave us a new thing
to check; possible air lock in the motor. So far we've checked the
thermostat (it works) & the water pump (it works), flushed the radiator
thoroughly, verified that the temp gauge is correct by measuring it
against a candy thermometer in the radiator. The overheating problem
was of sudden onset after swapping the wiring from a jury-rigged fuse
box back to the original 4 circuit fuse box (no wiring was actually
replaced, just a lot of "wires to nowhere" removed.)
I'm game to try anything. How does one troubleshoot and eliminate
air lock in the motor?
