Will,
I had this problem last winter and there
was no hope of recovering either the
wires or the jackets. They were welded
together. I found an answer, which I
describe on my Tech Stuff page.
Basically I used 0.055" piano wire, or
control wire at your local hobby shop.
You will need 3 pieces. Then I went to
a bicycle repair shop and purchased
several feet of 1.8mm ID control cable
jacket. You need to put an offset bend
in one end of each wire, which is fairly
easy with two pair of good pliers. The
hobby shop told me a bending tool is
available, but it was not worth the
price for just 3 bends.
That is about all there is to it.

Subject: heater & vent cables
Does anyone know of an alternate source
for heater and
vent cables? They sure are pricey new. I
tried bike
cables but they were much too light
weight. I
appreciate any help you can offer.
