Hmmm,
I heard that the roadster was developed by a bunch of celibate monks that
congregated at a prehistoric Yugo location. The engineering drawings were
supposedly carved in sandstone and delivered to Loch ness to be submerged
so that industrial espionage could be avoided. Hence the Loch ness
Monster. It was claimed that it was an original design. -;)
The MGB and the roadster were developed almost concurrently.
MGA and MGB engines are not cloned to or from the R or H Nissan engines,
however, the do have affinity and some interchangeability with the E and J
Nissan engines. Nissan got a license to build the E and J style engines
and made better and more reliable products. Many of the Nissan parts have
been used to repair the British stuff. Gaskets, seals, pulleys, heads,
timing covers, cams etc.
