It almost sounds like you are describing
my problem about 4-6 weeks ago. It just
started running rough and I really
thought I would have to have it towed
home.

After a week of changing fuel filters,
checking fuel in the fuel bowls, and
just looking at everything, including
compression, I accidentally touched the
condenser on the side of the distributor
while the engine was running. The tone
of the engine changed, and I started
looking closely at that area. I found
the screw that holds the condenser to
the side of the dizzy body was ever so
slightly loose. I tightened the screw
and all was well in roadsterland.

Subject: Where should I start

Now that Summer is officially over I am
finally getting some time away from
work to deal with my roadster problems.
The first thing I need to attend to
is my wife's '70 1600 with all the
emissions controls installed. I would
like some advice as to where to start.

A couple of months ago she was running
errands awhile back and it started
acting like it was running out of gas.
She managed to nurse it around the
corner and into a gas station where she
filled the tank. It didn't take
much. She drove home, about two miles,
with out a problem. The next day she
started out again and only made it about
a 1/4 of a mile when the car
stopped running. She could not get it
started. She managed to get it pushed
into a parking lot and let it sit until
I got home that evening.

I tried to start it and it would not
start. There was gas in the fuel filter
although I thought it looked a little
low. Since I could not get it started
we pushed it the 1/4 mile back home. Our
driveway is rather steep and we
only managed to push it about half way
up before we could not push anymore.
I had Chris try to start it and it fired
right up!! She drove it into the
garage where it has been sitting ever
since. We have tried to start it a
couple of times and it starts but she
doesn't want to try to go anywhere -
afraid it will let her sit again.

My first thought was "gunk" in the tank
since pushing it up the steep
driveway seemed to make it start. Any
advice as to where to start my
investigation would be appreciated.
