All of what Stan said is right although the 122-144 ft/lbs spec is, if I
remember, only for the single nut set up.  The double nut set up is done
by first torquing the thick nut against the 5th gear/bushing assembly to
about 45ft/lbs (look that up first as that's from memory).  The jam nut
is then snugged up against the thick nut and the thick nut backed off
against the jam nut to 200ft/lbs.  I used red locktite on mine too.  No
problems in 10+ years.

The end play for 5th gear should be in the .004" to .008" range and it

controlled by the length of the sleeve and the length of the gear
