I've heard of pros and cons running an aluminum flywheel on the street.

The machine shop I had my Roadster engine balanced etc at had an Eclipse
engine and tranny which shattered the aluminum flywheel and caused extensive
damage to the car and driver.

If you run an aluminum flywheel be sure that you have a machine shop install
steel shouldered sleeves where the flywheel bolts up to the crank.

The bolt holes elongated on the Eclipse and threw the flywheel out of round
and the rest was history.

Race engines are torn down far more frequently than street engines and the
flywheel is examined a lot more frequently.

Be safe, not sorry.

Mike

flywheel. Does anyone have one they would consider selling. I have tried
Tilton and they said they are no longer in production. I found a company,
(MPD), that makes late model stuff but cannot locate a roadster flywheel.

about that without using a trans blanket or scattershield.
