This tests the brake warning light.
On the later, dual-circuit cars (67.5 on), there's a differential switch
in the brake lines (mounted on firewall, passenger side). If one
hydraulic system loses pressure, a warning light comes on. The
light is located on the lower right of the instruments, silver bezel
with red 'B' in plastic lens.
The high beam indicator is a red light inside the speedo at the bottom.
